PDC cutters
Preview
PDC (Polycrystalline Diamond Compact) cutter is a product made of super-hard material, which is a layer of polycrystalline diamonds synthesized onto a carbide substrate under the influence of extremely high pressures and temperatures (HPHT - High Pressure High Temperature). The pressure reaches 6–8 GPa, and the temperature 1400–1700°C. During the manufacturing process, the PDC diamond layer is firmly pressed into the carbide substrate to form a single, integral structure.
PDC cutters are designed for use in rocks of various hardness categories.
AB series
Increased abrasion resistance.
PCD thickness – 2.0-3.0 mm
ST series
General purpose cutters.
Optimum parameters of abrasion and impact resistance.
PCD thickness – 2.0-3.0 mm
F series
Increased impact resistance.
PCD thickness – 2.0-3.0 мм
Cutters have different abrasion and impact properties. Impact resistance can be achieved by carefully selecting the fractional composition of the diamond layer. Increasing the abrasion resistance of the cutter can be achieved by chemical-thermal treatment and removal of excess catalyst metal from the diamond layer. Depending on the depth of removal, the abrasive properties of the cutter increase.
