Shell is interested in expansion operations with Russian contractors

On 29-30 of November 2011 Shell in Russia together with publishing house «Oil and Gas Vertical» held forum «Contractors in Russian oil and gas sector – new abilities and old problems».

Representatives of Russian service companies «Borets», «Severstal», «BURINTEKH», «Siberian Service Company», «Atomenergomash», «Sibneftemash», «Sibpromcomlect», «Salavatneftemash» and many others took part in forum. Shell subdivisions managers presented papers about contracts, material and technical facilities and contracting.

In the course of forum were discussed questions connected with usage of equipment and tools, and also with organization of contract works on Shell projects in such regions as Europe, Middle East and Northern Africa, China, India, Mexico and Russia. Besides representatives of joint ventures of Shell in CIS countries - Salym Petroleum Development (Russia), Sakhalin Energy (Russia), Caspian Sea Meryerty Opening Company (Kazakhstan) presented papers.

Sara Kyleaars, vice-president for finances of Shell in Russia and Caspian Region said:
«Our sector cannot exist without reliance on manufacturers and suppliers to whom we address ideally, inside the country, or if such are absent or noncompetitive, on international market. In Russia as distinct from many other countries where operates Shell, there are suppliers having high potential, connected with oil and gas sector for a long time and is capable to provide high quality and competitive man power».

Paul Massay, vice-president Shell for organization contract works and logistic support, noted:
«Russian suppliers have considerable abilities in increasing volumes of their participation during the organization of exports and realization new Shell projects. However suppliers will not be able to achieve high rates without interaction with public authorities. Besides necessary condition for further development of service companies and their entrance to the global market is correspondence to world technological standards and safety standards, and also its integrity».

The forum of Russian suppliers became logical continuation of Shell initiative following the results of which in September 2011 was held expert round-table conference «Future of Russian market of oil and gas equipment and services» on which were present representatives of public authorities, business community and oil and gas and service companies.
